Book name: The Woman in Black
Author: Susan Hill
Publisher: Heinemann Publishers Ltd
Summary of the book:
This storybook includes fourteen chapters, for examples, ‘Christmas Eve’, ‘The Cry of a Child’, ‘Sounds in the Night’, ‘Behind the door’, ‘The Story Ends’ and so on. This story is set in England many years ago. At this time, London often had bad fogs in the winter. This fog was a very thick, dirty mist. The fog mixed with the smoke from fires and factories. It was difficult to see or breathe in these fogs. Arthur Kipps was the hero in this story. He was twenty-three years old and he was soon to be married. Arthur worked as a solicitor in London. He helped people with their legal business. One day, the children wanted Arthur to tell them a ghost story. But he could not do so, because his story was too horrible to tell. His story was of a lonely house among the dangerous marshes. There was a woman in black with hatred in her eyes waited and watched, and a child cried out in the mist.
Feeling:
After I read this storybook, I feel very frightened. Especially when I read the story at night, my heart is palpitating very fast. A shiver is coming to my whole body when I am reading the story. This storybook is very good and the contents are unusual and special. Although the story is awesome and marvellous, it is fantastic and incredible. The plot of this story makes me nervous. This storybook is well illustrated. I would like to introduce this storybook to my classmates.
P.S. 我只是個中一生... 不要要求太高吧...
